It is located in the Pinares de Mayari Plateau, within the Sierra de Nipe geographical set, up to more than 700 m above sea level. From the point of view of the flora is one of the most interesting regions in the Cuban archipelago for its wealth of endemic species, with more than 445 species, in a vegetal cover made up of original pine forests, charrascales, mesophilic evergreen forests, among others. The biodiversity of fauna is represented by the report of more than 90 species of birds with 21 endemic from Cuba.
